Self-Talk is motivation and motivation is beneficial because it can be that little extra push into action that can make all the difference in many different situations.
But Self-Talk is more than just motivation. It is actually a biological, chemical process in the brain that changes your feelings, actions, and results. The brain is a recorder. It stores information. When it functions, it functions on the actions stored inside its data base. New information that it receives is accepted, recorded, and if it is in conflict with the old information, replaces it. This is especially true if the new information is repeated often enough (think of Advertising) and with authority and conviction. The old information is slowly erased and loses its power to run brain functions, both over the endocrine (mood) and cerebral (logic) systems. They become yesterday's news, and what do people act on, yesterday's news, or todays? And your brain is the same way. It acts on today's news.
Self-Talk is also a therapy of returning you to your real self. The blockage of your real self by a false personality running the ship is from all the negative conditioning from the outside world, which trickles down to your local society, the people around you, and eventually to the eternal dialog going on in your own cerebral cortex. The outside world is attracted to negativity as a way of avoiding what really is, what's really going on. Framing ordinary events in a negative light gives them a sense of importance, so as not to have to face the fact that LIFE IS A MIRACLE, AND EVERY MOMENT IS A JOY. If you involved in a false sense of importance (emotionally attached to the goings on of the world) then you can be in denial of principle of what your soul is here for, and become identified internally with an Ego and all of the negative traits that go with such a complex.
